ALL INQUIRIES CONCERNING HOUSING, DONATIONS AND VOLUNTEERING ARE HANDLED BY THE LOCAL AFFILIATES.

This is an exciting time in the history of Habitat for Humanity Maryland. There are many ways to get involved no matter what your skills and interests may be. Habitat for Humanity's programs and outreach efforts reflect the diversity of volunteers who participate in our mission:

  • Women Build promotes the involvement of women in the construction of Habitat houses.
  • Youth United engages youth from 5—25 years of age to come together to build a house.
  • Builders Blitz brought together professional builders from across the country to build nearly 500 houses in one week in June of 2006 — the largest event of its kind in the history of affordable housing production.
  • Building on the Dream embraces and celebrates cultural diversity and religious solidarity in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
  • Interfaith and Interdenominational builds bring together people of different faiths to build a Habitat house.
  • FAITHWORKS focuses on energizing the nearly 85 percent of churches, synagogues and mosques in the state that do not currently partner with Habitat for Humanity.

...in college?take the Collegiate Challenge and build a Habitat house during spring break.|start or join a local college or university campus chapter.

In addition to concerned individuals and churches, Habitat for Humanity Maryland is looking for organizations — both corporate and civic — that will empower their employees and members to get involved. We invite you to join the growing list of corporations in Maryland that have stepped forward to sponsor a home including Bank of America, Citigroup, Coldwell Banker, Marriott, MECU, The Rouse Company and Sodexho. You may also wish to join organizations such as Allegis Group, Black & Decker, M & T Bank, Home Depot, Lowes, the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, and the Maryland member banks of the Federal Home Loan Bank in providing significant support to Habitat for Humanity Maryland.

Trade associations are encouraged to mobilize their members to get involved with Habitat. Organizations that have partnered with Habitat for Humanity Maryland include the Maryland Association of Realtors, the Maryland Association of CPAs the Home Builders Association of Maryland, the Maryland National Capital Builders Industry Association, the Maryland Credit Union League and the Maryland Bankers Association.

Another way for organizations to partner with Habitat for Humanity Maryland is through TeamBuild.  Designed and facilitated by organizational development and training professionals, this innovative program — currently offered by Chesapeake HFH in Baltimore and Harford HFH in Bel Air — uses a structured methodology to build team dynamics through a series of fee-based team-building sessions.
